Please join us Saturday, May 31st, 1-4 pm for the closing reception of Air Alone (in my dream). Come see the work of Kim Altomare and Melina Auskaitis.
In conjunction with the closing, Penpals for Palestine! will be hosting an all-ages pop-up postcard making event. There will be demos of papermaking, paint making, and a mobile textile mural.
Penpals for Palestine! is an experimental mail art exchange highlighting the voices of the youth of Philly and the youth of Jericho facilitated by Michelle Anne Harris and Kim Altomare in collaboration with Jericho based artist Yaqeen Yamani. Throughout 2025, they will facilitate community workshops throughout Philadelphia to create handmade books and paper correspondence art that will be sent back and forth to Yamani for response at community events in Jericho.
Facilitating artists include Kim Altomare, Sunny Hsu, Cindy Stockton-Moore and Michelle Anne Harris with directive prompts provided remotely by Yaqeen Yamani and Jericho Cinema Club.
Penpals for Palestine! have an open call for creative members (ages 7-18) for their Clubhouse Meetings. Located in Olde Kensington, the Clubhouse is a community experimental art and literacy meeting space for youths ages 7-18 and their families. Alongside our Jericho cohort, meeting topics include art games, papermaking and poetry performances, with the opportunity for clubhouse members to have their work exhibited in a traveling exhibition and submitted for printed publication.
